Overview

REGISTRATIONS NOW OPEN!

Swim Bike Run (formerly Go Tri Local)  is ideal for people of all ages that are brand new to swim, bike and run and looking to take their first steps in a safe and enjoyable environment. Think of it as like Parkrun for triathlon. More experienced competitors are also welcome to take part and it’s a great opportunity to practice your transitions.

Swim Bike Run Torbay is normally on the first Saturday of every month. It’s a fully off road course that suitable for all ages & abilities. These opportunities are all about having fun and building your confidence. With the opportunities, we have set out the minimum distances for each element of the event. The bike and run elements are lapped, so you can do as much as or as little that want on the day. eg more experienced people can do a 150m swim, a 9K bike (6 laps of the velopark) and a 2k run which is 3 laps of our run course.

FAMILIES ENCOURAGED
Children as young as 6 (provided they can swim at least 25m) can take part. A parent or other responsible adult can take part with them if they wish.

Younger Children (aged 5 on 31st Dec 2024) can take part in our Mini Tri provided they can swim 25m unaided. – Same venue, same time, same place but under the Sportiva Events public liability insurance. CLICK HERE to register

You start your swim bike run triathlon with a pool based swim, followed by a Velopark ride on smooth, flat tarmac and a flat parkland run. In the event of bad weather we may change the format to a duathlon or a reverse triathlon.

FAQs

Do I need to be a good swimmer or biker or runner to take part?

Absolutely not. You can swim as little as 50m or as much as 200m. You can even stop for a breather if you need to & breast stroke, front crawl and even doggy paddle are all fine. It's just back stroke that isn't permitted. Similarly on the bike leg you'll find the smooth, flat tarmac very easy to ride on. And the run is also flat with enough time to walk round if you prefer.

Is Swim Bike Run Local every month?

Yes, Swim Bike Run Local (formerly Go Tri) is normally on the first Saturday of every month. Occasionally we have to move it to avoid a clash with one of our own big events. In the winter months we may switch the format to duathlon (run bike run) aquabike (swim/indoor bike) or aquathlon (swim/run). You'll find a list of the upcoming dates on the event page. See Swim Bike Run Torbay

Are Swim Bike Run local events timed?

Yes we do provide an overall time. It's just for fun though & non-competitive.  You are also very welcome to time yourself using a watch.
