Torbay Sprint Aquabike
Which race? See below..
This totally traffic-free venue is the perfect way for anyone to start in the sport of triathlon, with a pool based swim, followed by a Velopark ride on smooth, flat tarmac.
The swim, in the 25m pool is followed by 13 laps on the super-smooth tarmac of the Velopark.
The Torbay Triathlons are Award Winning events and winner of the National Children’s Event of the Year 2023 & the South West Region Small Event of the Year 2023. Our Spring Triathlons are also qualifying events for the British Triathlon South West Junior Race Series.
And on Saturday afternoon we have our Mixed Team Relay in the Olympic format.

Medals & awards
There is a medal for all finishers.
We will award male & female prizes in the Sprint for the Top 3 overall, top 3 Vet 40, Top 3 Vet 50, Top 3 Vet 60 & first junior. For the Swim Bike Run & Supersprint we will just award the top 3 male & female.
We do not post out uncollected prizes so make sure you stay for the presentations!
Please note we operate a one prize per person policy. So if a vet is the overall winner they will get that medal & prize & the other Vet 40s will move up one place.
Tristar categories: Top 3 boys & girls in each category. We also award special medals to Top 3 novices in the 8-10 age group & in the 11-14 age group.
What are gear restrictions?
How environmentally friendly are you?
Will there be timing chips at your triathlons?
Do I need to be a member of a club to enter?
My kid(s) want to try triathlon. How do they get started?
Can I get a refund or defer my registration to next year?
Can I alter my registration between races on the same day (eg switch from the Sprint to the Supersprint triathlon)
How do age categories work and what is the minimum age to compete?
For events on open roads the minimum age is 15 or 17 for the longer Standard/Olympic distance events. However for our Pool-based triathlons the minimum age is 8 by 31st Dec in the year of competition or 5 for the Torbay Triathlons. And at our Donut Duathlon we have a mini duathlon with a bike or scoot followed by a run for children aged 3-7.
Just to confuse matters England Athletics (under whose rules we run most of our running events) use age on the day of the race instead of age at the end of the year.
Here is a summary of all the age groups (all ages are on 31st Dec of year of competition). Distances increase as children progress through TriStar. On our registration form just choose Tristar or Novice & you'll be automatically allocated to the correct category. The Novice events are aimed at children who are less confident swimmers or trying triathlon for the first time.
Mini Duathlon ages 3-7 (only at our Donut Duathlon)
Mini Tri age 5, 6 & 7 (only at our Tavistock & Torbay Triathlons)
Tristar Start aged 8 (includes 8 year old novices)

Tristar 2 - aged 11-12
Tristar 3 - aged 13-14
Youth - aged 15-16
Junior - aged 17-19
Novice 1 - aged 9-10 (same distances as Tristar Start)
Novice 2 - aged 11-14 (same distances as Tristar 2)
