Future of junior triathlon events in jeopardy.

Like most event organisers we’ve struggled over the last 18 months. We were only able to run four of our planned events in 2020 & also had to cancel or postpone the majority of our planned events in the first half of 2021. One of our events, the Donut Duathlon, was unlucky enough to be hit by all three major lockdowns & has now been postponed three times.

Entry numbers are slowly starting to pick up now but our Junior entries are still way down to the point where all our 2021 junior events look set to make a loss. We’ve already cancelled two of the junior events we were hoping to run in 2022. And news that four leisure centres in Cornwall could close next year, just adds to the doom & gloom. We also heard that swim club visitor numbers to the Olympic pool at Mount Kelly are down by something like 40 percent. And we’ve heard a similar story from our friends at British Cycling

Late entries are also causing us problems. It’s hard to plan things like medals & t-shirts or even whether to go ahead with events at all.

So if you want these events to continue next year please enter your children in our next event, the #TorbayTriathlon on Sun 10th Oct sportivaevents.co.uk/events/torbay-triathlon-autumn
