The Torbay Triathlon Autumn will be in support of the UUF, United Ukraine Fellowship.
Sportiva Events will donate 10 percent of the profits from the Torbay Mixed Team Triathlon & the Torbay Triathlon Autumn to the UUF.
The UUF is a charitable organisation which is partnered with the Registered Charity
Embraceme. The UUF saves lives in Ukraine torn apart by war. Powered primarily by kind
donations, the UUF organisation has purchased and delivered 79 ambulances to Ukraine
since February 2022. The ambulances are loaded with medical supplies, baby food etc and
driven to Ukraine. Here you can find out more about who they are, what they do and how,
with your support, we can save more lives.
One of the ambulances will be displayed at the Event so that anyone can come and have a
look, and can leave a short message on the ambulance in return for a small donation. The
ambulance will then be driven to Ukraine to deliver your messages and your generosity to
Behind the initiative is the UUF (United Ukraine Fellowship) started by four Ukrainians: Oleksandr Hulitskiy, Maryan Hrygel, Sviatoslav Bereziy and Andriy Velhosh who have all lived in the UK for 20 years. They teamed up together when Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022 with the aim of helping their country.
Three of the team recently completed a charity bike ride where three of the team cycled all the way from Ukraine to London. The aim was to demonstrate that the war is much closer than many might think, actually within a bike ride from your home, to raise funds for purchasing ambulances and to draw attention to what we are doing in general. Ironically the distance from Ukraine to the UK is equal to the length of the front line in Ukraine. It’s about 2,500 kilometres. It took them two weeks to cycle from the Ukrainian border to London visiting five countries & fifteen cities along the way. See www.uuf.family/cycle-ride.
