The results are in for the Burrator 10K 2022, and what a race it was! Despite a couple of heavy rain showers conditions were close to perfect. And as hoped, moving the event to Saturday evening drastically reduced the number of tourists trying to get through our road closure!
Our overall winners were Niki Morgan of Chepstow Harriers, with a time of 40:13, moving up one place from her position in 2021 and Jim Cole of Tavistock Run Project with a cracking time of 32:57!
Other highlights include Caroline Lavis of Hogweed Trotters, who was second in the Vet 60 category with an excellent time of 52:56, at the age of 75!
We also clocked quite a few triathletes taking part. These included Nick Day, who cycled over 50K that morning before the race as part of his training for an Ironman – that’s dedication – before running 35:06 for 1st Vet 40.
Our kids 2K & 1K races earlier in the afternoon also went well. Oliver Riches, aged 13, from Bodmin Dragons Tri club ran 7:45 for 2K, half of which was uphill. It’s a time most adults in the 10K would have struggled to match. His younger brothers also featured in the results and Oliver’s parents Pippa & Robin went on to achieve 2nd overall & 3rd V40 respectively in the afternoon! Our youngest runner, Annie Gummesson, impressed us all with a time of 16:37 at just 3 years of age! Great to see so much future running talent competing in the kids’ races.
